J S Bach
St John Passion
First performed in Leipzig in 1724, Johann Sebastian Bach’s St John Passion is a powerful, dramatic tour de force which takes the audience through the events of the crucifixion of Jesus.
Soloists, chorus and orchestra work together to depict the pain of Jesus, the bewilderment of the disciples and the anger of the crowd as well as helping the audience to be part of the drama with the inclusion of traditional German hymns. Jersey Chamber Choir and JCC Orchestra present the St John Passion in the year of the 300th anniversary of the first performance.
