Soprano

Gailina is a lyric soprano whose musical journey began with learning to play the piano at the age of 9.  She completed her ARCT in Piano Performance at the age of 14 at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto (Canada) under the guidance of Dr. Boris Lysenko, a concert pianist and former Vice Principal of the Leningrad Conservatory.

Along the way, Gailina also learned how to play the recorder, flute, piccolo, violin and enjoyed singing and performing in secondary school dramatic productions.  Her formal vocal studies as an operatic soprano began with Igor Saika-Voivod while she was reading law at university and she performed in various staged productions with the Toronto City Opera in the ‘90s under the direction of Giuseppe Macina, including roles in Tosca, Carmen, The Marriage of Figaro, Norma, Lucia di Lammermoor, La Boheme and La Traviata

Gailina moved to Jersey in 2015 and works professionally as an independent non-executive board director on a range of investment fund, public sector and charitable boards.  Gailina has continued to pursue her love of music in Jersey and has been delighted to sing with Polyphonie led by Jonathan Pollard, Eight led by Imogen Nicholls, and currently enjoys singing as a soloist and member of The Amity Singers led by John and Elizabeth Farnon and The Jersey Chamber Choir.
