Soprano

Sydney is a first-year Music student and Choral Scholar at The Queen’s College, Oxford. As part of her choral award, she sings three times a week in Choral Evensong and has taken part in performances of Bach’s St Matthew Passion, Handel’s Messiah, and an album recording with the choir. She currently studies singing under Giles Underwood.

Beyond her choral commitments, Sydney has enjoyed exploring early music with The Bate Collective, performing works by Mouret and Charpentier, and has recently appeared as Casilda in the university Gilbert and Sullivan Society’s production of The Gondoliers.

Growing up in Jersey, Sydney attended Jersey College for Girls and won the PwC Jersey Young Musician of the Year in 2023. She subsequently has performed at several local events and concerts such as singing Beautiful Jersey on Liberation Day, the performing soprano solo in Rutter’s Magnificat and giving a recital in the Georgetown Methodist Church concert series last summer. While in Jersey, she studied singing with Imogen Nicholls MBE and is deeply grateful for her guidance and support. She also plays violin in the Jersey Symphony Orchestra.
