Dietrich Buxtehude's "Jesu meines Lebens Leben is a short Passion Cantata. His "Membra Jesu nostri" is the most significant piece in the programme. A meditation on the Passion of Christ, it contemplates seven different parts of Christ's body on the cross: feet, knees, hands, side, breast, heart and head, combining mystical poetry with words of scripture.
