Katie

Bastiman

Soprano

Katie sang with Somerville choir as a choral scholar during her studies at the University of Oxford. She has travelled to India and Italy on tour with Somerville Choir and Wadham College Chapel Choir, and brought Somerville choir home with her on a Channel Islands tour in 2019. She also has an academic interest in choral music, having worked on depictions of song in medieval Italian poetry during her postgraduate degree. She was delighted to have the opportunity to give a talk on “Dante and the Music of the Afterlife” in last year’s Jersey Festival of Words to share some of her insights into this area.

Katie is a pianist and a violinist, and has played with the Jersey Symphony Orchestra for around ten years. She is also on the JSO Players’ committee as Strings Representative. Katie worked for London-based orchestra “The Mozartists” in 2021 before moving home to Jersey.
