Soprano

Gitte-Maj Donoghue is originally from Denmark and has lived in Jersey for over 30 years. She has always had a love of singing and performing and she studied at Musical Theatre School in Copenhagen for two years after her A-levels before attending Copenhagen University, achieving a Masters degree in Music with choral conducting and a Diploma in singing.


In Jersey, Gitte-Maj has played many leading roles in a variety of Gilbert and Sullivan operas at the Opera House and she has performed frequently as soloist in choral works and charity concerts and she has also performed in a number of staged Opera Scenes when her roles have included Violetta (La Traviata), the Countess (Figaro), Rosalinde (Die Fledermaus) and Musetta (La Boheme).


She is a Vocal Health First Aider and Vocal Habilitation Professional. She is Chair of the Jersey Vocal Trust and has recently taken on a post with the Jersey Music Service as a vocal teacher and leader of choirs.
