Ellen

Harvey-Hills

Soprano

Ellen has lived in Jersey since the age of two and began singing lessons when she was ten after her grandfather overheard her singing songs from ‘The Sound of Music’. That accident kick-started a lifelong love of music and performing. At school, Ellen studied the violin and the piano, and she sang with the school’s chapel and chamber choirs, being fortunate enough to work with Ralph Allwood, conductor Kirill Karabits and James MacMillan.

After leaving school, Ellen went north to Durham University, where she graduated with a BA in Music in 2022. While at Durham, Ellen sang in several of the university’s college chapel choirs and had the privilege of performing Parry’s Songs of Farewell and Mendelssohn’s Elijah with the university’s Choral Society. The Covid-19 pandemic stopped music-making at Durham for nearly eighteen months, but nevertheless, Ellen still had the opportunity to sing in the likes of York Minster, Durham Cathedral and St Paul’s Cathedral.

After completing her degree in 2022, Ellen moved back to Jersey and now sings with the Jersey Chamber Choir and St Luke’s Church Choir. Ellen is also a member of the Jersey Amateur Dramatic Club, and has performed in their productions of Stephen Sondheim’s Company (2023) and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Evita (2024).
