Edward

Hauschild

Bass

Edward was sent to drama and singing classes from a very young age and, after an unconvincing turn as Dick Whittington in a primary school pantomime, was hooked on musical theatre for most of his early life. He was a member of several award-winning amateur dramatic companies in Hampshire, most recently appearing as the Grand Pooh-Bah in Hot Mikado and as Caiaphas in Jesus Christ Superstar.

Musically, everything changed for Edward in 2017 when he began training to be a Catholic Priest at the Venerable English College in Rome. It was in Rome that he first began singing Gregorian chant and sacred polyphony as a member of the college Schola. Highlights of those years include twice singing the crowd parts of Byrd’s Passion on Good Friday, and singing in the choir for the Easter Sunday Mass in St Peter’s Square. He was twice appointed as the College’s Assistant Choir Master.

Edward was ordained as a Catholic priest in March 2023, and is now one of two priests looking after Jersey’s seven Catholic churches.
